Indiana Basketball has some great uniforms, but are they atop the Big Ten?

Uniforms are an extremely important part of a sports team. “Look good, play good” is a cliche for a reason. You can’t expect to perform to your fullest if you have to hold back a small amount of vomit every time you put on your own jersey. It’s the equivalent of Bill Gates being forced to go into Microsoft practice wearing socks and sandals with a Hawaiian shirt.

The Big Ten has some quality uniforms and some uniforms that are… not quite as good. Today, let’s highlight the five best jerseys to grace the basketball court in the Big Ten conference.

Here are the criteria for my judgment.

Simplicity.

Can you communicate school identity and brand without being overly flashy?

Is it iconic?

Does this look like something that could be in place for a long time, or will it need to be updated in a few years?

Can it look modern without being out-of-the-box?

For instance, Oregon and TCU have some cool jerseys, but they are too adventurous to be permanent for decades to come.

Also, bear in mind I’m a writer, not an artist. Let’s go.
