Indiana Hoosiers: 5 teams the Big Ten absolutely needs to not consider adding
By Adam Childs
3. Texas A&M
The Big Ten has explored grabbing a school from Texas but the Aggies aren’t it. If the conference wasn’t to branch out to the Lonestar state, they need to get Texas and not Texas A&M.
Adding the Aggies to the conference would be the definition of settling. You can’t get your first choice, so we will instead grab something similar but one that isn’t nearly as good. That is exactly what would happen if Texas wouldn’t join but they could get A&M.
Athletically there really isn’t anything wrong with the Aggies. They sport a pretty good football team and their basketball team has been good in the last ten years. Jimbo Fisher could be getting himself into some hot water with recruiting violations, but before that, they have been pretty clean.
The sports aren’t the issue with not wanting the Aggies. It just really goes back to the fact that the Big Ten would only add them if they were desperate for the Texas market and couldn’t get Texas. That is the one reason they would even consider A&M and that isn’t a good reason. So lets if they couldn’t get Texas, then leave the state alone.
