The Indiana football team made the top eight for a safety from Mississippi he announced on his Twitter page on Thursday night.

The Hoosiers continue to show that they are making their presence known in the South. On Thursday they made the top eight for safety Elijah Sabbatini. He announced via his Twitter account his top eight that included Indiana.

Indiana is joined in the top eight by Air Force, Army, Southern Miss, Memphis, Kansas, Louisville, and West Virginia. Sabbatini is part of the 2021 class.

The Hoosiers offered Sabbatini a scholarship earlier this month and have made a great early impression on the safety from Mississippi. Sabbatini isn’t ranked according to 247sports, but has had a great high school career and could be that diamond in the rough.

According to his high school football Twitter account @biloxifootball1, Sabbatini has some ridiculous numbers in his career.

"Returning starter Elijah Sabbatini. Unreal career stats: 182 Tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 4 INTs, 2 Forced Fumbles, 132 rushing yards-2TDs, 11 catches for 266 yards-2TDs, over 500 return yards-1TD, 974 All Purpose Yards and 5 TDs."

Sabbatini is a two-way player and it is unclear how the Hoosiers would use him if they could bring him on board. According to his stats, he has been able to do a little bit of everything. He is a plus defender who can also play a little offense.

He could be used as a return specialist also judging by his high school numbers. Sabbatini continues the trend of Tom Allen going after great athletes to fit into his system.

It also again shows how well Allen and his staff are recruiting the southern part of the country. The Hoosiers have a ton of players from Florida and are continuing to make a splash in the surrounding states.
