Current Draft Stock: Undrafted

As of right now, Justin Smith is not on anyone’s radar for being drafted. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen however. You have to have somewhat of a shot at getting drafted in order to go through the draft process like Smith is currently doing. The need for improvement, however, is quite glaring.

Likelihood of being drafted: Low

Smith can be frustrating to IU fans, and his NBA candidacy may come as a surprise to some, but he has a legitimate shot to make the league with a solid senior season. Smith’s athleticism is off the charts and would translate immediately to the NBA. He has the perfect frame that NBA teams are looking for a 6’7” 230 pounds and has the quickness to guard multiple positions in a switch-happy league.

Smith’s body and athleticism measurements read like that of a top-10 prospect. However, when you see the on-court product, it can be underwhelming to say the least. Hope is far from lost though, and if he implements the feedback scouts give him throughout the draft process, we could see him playing for an NBA team one day. Whether or not you believe Smith will be able to implement their advice is a different story, but the potential cannot be denied.
