The Indiana Hoosiers’ Damezi Anderson has entered his name into the transfer portal and will look to continue his career with another school.

The Indiana Hoosiers have been one of the few teams to not be hit by players transferring this offseason, but that changed when Damezi Anderson put his name in the transfer portal.

Anderson announced his intentions on his Instagram page on Thursday afternoon.

Anderson is a 6’7″ forward who didn’t quite find his footing with the Hoosiers. He showed lots of promise at the beginning of the year scoring 26 points over the first three games but saw his playing time continue to dwindle as the season went on.

Anderson was a four-star recruit out of South Bend, IN where he finished his high school career as the all-time leading scorer in school and county history.

Head coach Archie Miller had high remarks for Anderson before the season started.

"“Right now he’s as big and strong and as well-conditioned as he’s been,” Archie Miller said of Anderson during last October’s Big Ten Media Day. “He’s so much more prepared mentally to know what he’s dealing with. Without question one of the gifts he has is he can shoot the ball.”"

Once the season started and Jerome Hunter played well, though, Anderson didn’t see the court much. He only played more than four minutes in two games once January hit.

Anderson has shown flashes of being able to knock the down the outside shot, but he struggled to get hot during games. He is a big guy that can be a matchup problem from opposing teams but has never been able to get into a rhythm with the limited playing time.

Anderson will look to find a place where he can get more playing time and reach the potential he showed at Indiana.
