The Indiana football team has welcomed tight end, Peyton Hendershot, back after being suspended in February after his arrest.

Indiana football coach Tom Allen announced on Wednesday that Peyton Hendershot has been back part of the team but in a “modified way” according to the Daily Hoosier.

Hendershot was suspended in February after he was arrested on a variety of charges including battery. It was unclear how long the suspension would last, but this is a first step for him to be able to join the team when they hopefully take the field in the fall.

Allen indicated that Hendershot has been able to join in on calls with position and team meeting virtually.

Having Hendershot back would be huge for the Hoosiers offense. He was second on the team with 52 catches and 622 yards and four touchdowns. The 52 catches were a Hoosier single-season record for tight ends.

Hendershot in the lineup gives the Hoosiers one of the best quarterback, wide receiver, running back, and tight end group in the conference. Micahel Penix Jr, Whop Philyor, Stevie Scott, and Hendershot would all be up near the top of the list in their position in the Big Ten.

Hendershot obviously needs to show more to the coaches if he wants to be back on the team but this is a good first step.
