The Indiana football team got a commitment from Larry Smith III on Friday, a 4-star cornerback from the state of Florida.

The pandemic may be slowing down sports, but it isn’t slowing Tom Allen and the Hoosiers grabbing 2021 recruits. On Friday Indiana pulled in another one when Larry Smith III committed to the Hoosiers.

Smith is a 4-star cornerback from Florida where he plays for Lee High School. He picked the Hoosiers over Duke, North Carolina, and Ole Miss. Smith is rated as the 23 defensive back in the country according to 247sports and the 42nd player overall in the state of Florida.

Smith had a very good Junior season at Lee High School, where he had five interceptions and 52 tackles leading his team. He committed to the Hoosiers just a few weeks after receiving an offer and is the fifth member of the Indiana 2021 recruiting class.

Smith is a safety for Lee, but could easily play cornerback for Indiana. He isn’t the biggest at 5’11” and 170 pounds, but is very quick and will be a key piece to the Hoosier defense in the future.

Allen and company continue to make waves on the recruiting front and he once again got a big commitment from a player from the state of Florida. Allen has done a great job recruiting the sunshine state and getting Smith is another example of that.
