David DeJulius – Michigan

DeJulius is a very good shooter but wasn’t getting the minutes he wanted under Juwan Howard at Michigan. He averaged just seven points for the Wolverines and played just over 20 minutes per game.

His best game was a 20 point effort against Maryland as he single-handily kept Michigan in that game. He was stuck behind Zavier Simpson and Eli Brooks, even though fans thought he should get more time.

He is a good ball-handler and was also an above-average defender for Michigan this past year. He would have gotten more minutes next year, but with the way Howard is recruiting and his lack of minutes this year, it has to make him think he was going to be on the wrong end of the stick next year also.

If Khristian Lander does reclassify then there probably isn’t a place for him with the Hoosiers, but should he still be a guy Indiana kicks the tires on?

The Hoosiers struggled in getting consistent scoring from their guards last year and DeJulius has a good amount of experience and understands the Big Ten also. He could be that guy that helps bring some leadership to some of the younger guys. The Hoosiers do already have Phinisee and Durham, but they have struggled to really establish themselves as scorers, so getting some more help is never a bad thing.

From all reports, DeJulius is a great teammate and works his butt off. He will be missed by Michigan and will be a huge addition to whatever school he chooses. He would be great for the Hoosiers team if they would want him.

In a perfect world, Phinisee and Durham take the next step and develop that consistent shot that makes them a big threat and Anthony Leal and Lander are the scorers right away for the Hoosiers that we think they can be. If that is the case then DeJulius would not fit in.

If Miller thinks that will be enough to run his offense then he doesn’t even make the call, but if he has any questions he has to see if he would be interested. The Hoosiers could do a lot worse than bringing a quality guy and scorer like DeJulius.
