Indiana Football: Hoosiers amongst trio vying for rising 2021 prospect
By Alec Lasley
The Indiana football program continues to make noise in the recruiting world and are one of three teams vying for the commitment of one rising prospect.
It has been a wild offseason for the Indiana football program – both good and bad. On and off of the field, Indiana continues to progress and take the next steps as a program looking to officially have a breakthrough in the Big Ten.
Tom Allen has done wonders on the recruiting trail over the past two years and has continued to do so this offseason.
With an abundance of young depth on the roster moving forward, the 2020 and 2021 recruiting classes could be the classes that help push the Hoosiers into becoming a constant team in the top-25 and atop the Big Ten standings.
One rising prospect that Tom Allen and Indiana are high on is Bryon Threats. The Ohio native continues to receive a ton of interest from many high-major programs just a few years after two gunshot wounds nearly ended his career before it started.
Now, Threats is one of the highest rising targets in the midwest and the Hoosiers are one of three teams that are standing out in his recruitment.
According to Rivals analyst Josh Helmholdt, Purdue, Cincinnati and Indiana are his top-three at the current moment, but he does have a long list of suitors.
"“Behind Purdue is the home-state Cincinnati Bearcats in the No. 2 spot, with Indiana close behind as well. Threats also keeps in regular contact with West Virginia, Iowa State, Minnesota, Kentucky and Boston College.”"
Playing wide receiver, running back, linebacker and safety, Threats’ versatility is what many coaches love about his game and why so many programs are starting to get involved.
Any of those positions are a possibility for Threats at the college level and could honestly play multiple at the next level.
Though Bryon Threats’ recruitment is still developing, the Hoosiers will continue to be one of the top teams on his mind moving forward.
