Indiana Football: 3 breakout players for the 2020 season
By Adam Childs
The Indiana football team will open their season at Wisconsin in less than six months. As we patiently await the new season, we look at three players poised for a breakout.
The Indiana Hoosiers should be in the middle of their spring season, but instead, they are sitting at home thinking about the season come fall. The Hoosiers will look to build off a very successful season in 2019 where they won eight games, went to a bowl in Florida for the first time, and had a winning Big Ten record for the first time in decades.
Things will look different though for the Hoosiers as starting quarterback, turned back-up, turned starter once again Peyton Ramsey has transferred to Northwestern. Depth at quarterback could be an issue as Michael Penix Jr.has had a history of being injury-prone.
The Hoosiers also lost some other players to transfer and will need to fill in some spots, but they still have a lot of skill players returning. Whop Phillyor will look to have another big year after exploding on to the scene last year with big games against Michigan State, Rutgers, and Nebraska.
They also return starting running back Stevie Scott who was an absolute workhorse for the Hoosiers until he was injured at the end of the year against Michigan. Scott would rush for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year.
Both Philyor and Scott were good coming into the year but definitely had breakout years. So who is primed for breakout years this year? We take a look at three guys ready to make a big leap for the Hoosiers in 2020.
