4. Hoosiers extend win streak against Spartans
Indiana has had some tough times in basketball the last two years, but no matter how they have been playing they have been able to take down the mighty Spartans. Last year they went through a stretch of really bad play and went 3-12 during a 15 game stretch. But two of those wins were against Michigan State, a team that won the Big Ten and made the Final Four.
The Hoosiers were playing better this year but were still big underdogs when they hosted the Spartans. Indiana came out on fire in the first half taking a 20-6 lead early in the game. The would continue to control the first half but the Spartans cut it to seven at the break.
Indiana, unfortunately, did what they did a lot this year and struggled in the second half as the Spartans battled on the way back and took the lead. The Hoosiers snapped out of it in time though and used a late push to take the lead and win the game, making it three straight against the Spartans.
Joey Brunk had a good game for the Hoosiers scoring a team-high 14 points while Trayce Jackson-Davis and Al Durham added 12 and 11 points respectively. It wasn’t the best scoring game for the Hoosiers, but the big guys came up big and the defense Indiana played was enough to hold down the powerful Spartans.
In the last two years, the Hoosiers are 3-0 against the Spartans and games against Michigan State seem to bring out the best in Indiana.
