9. at Rutgers – Week 7

Rutgers was absolutely awful last year. Indiana held them to 72 total yards of offense in their easy win. The Scarlet Knights probably won’t be that bad this year, but they still have a long way to go to be competitive in the Big Ten. They did hire Greg Schiano for the second time to try and resurrect the program and get it back to where he had it before he left for the Tampa Bay Bucs. Even with Schiano back in charge, they are still a few years away. This is a game the Hoosiers have to win.

8. vs Maryland – Week 6

The Terrapins started off on fire last year but completely fell apart. They had some injuries and getting those players back will help their offense and they aren’t going to be a pushover. The Hoosiers went to College Park and picked up a big win and this will be another game the Hoosiers will need to get if they want to be taken seriously in 2020. The Schedule gets tough at the end so they need to pick up wins at the beginning of the season and this is one of them.

7. vs Illinois – Week 11

The Fighting Illini were one of the surprise teams in the Big Ten last year. Just like the Hoosiers, not many people were expecting much from them, but a huge upset over Wisconsin vaulted them into a run that helped them make a bowl game.

Illinois returns starting quarterback Brandon Peters and he was a big difference for the Illini offense and one that will be tough to stop. This will be a tricky game for the Hoosiers because it is sandwiched between games at Ohio State and Michigan. It is a game that Indiana will need to find a way to win or it could be a long end to the season.
