The Indiana basketball freshman big received end of the year Big Ten honors as the All-Big Ten teams were announced on Monday.

It has been a terrific freshman campaign for Indiana basketball big man Trayce Jackson-Davis and on Monday it all came to fruition as he was named to the All-Big Ten Third-Team and All-Freshman team.

Joining Jackson-Davis on the All-Big Ten Third-Team was Marcus Carr (Minnesota), Nate Reuvers (Wisconsin), Kofi Cockburn (Illinois) and Joe Wieskamp (Iowa).

Jackson-Davis has been spectacular all season as Indiana’s best all-around player averaging 13.6 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game.

With 21-of-31 games in double-digits and six games of 20+ points, he also has 10 double-doubles, headlined by a 27-point and 16-rebound performance against Minnesota and a 25-point and 15-rebound night against Nebraska.

While Jackson-Davis was easily one of the best freshmen in the country, he was edged out by Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. You can make the argument for either one, but due to Illinois’ season and how Cockburn changed the Illini’s defensive ability, he got the nod.

On the year, Jackson-Davis won five Big Ten freshman of the week honors, behind the seven racked up by Cockburn.

With Jackson-Davis on the All-Big Ten Third-Team, it is the second consecutive year that Indiana has had a freshman on the Third-Team as Romeo Langford did in 2019.
