Indiana Basketball: 5 takeaways from regular season

2. Hoosiers road struggles are major concern under Archie Miller
Indiana has been terrific at home under Archie Miller, collecting a 42-16 record in his three seasons, but going on the road has been a different story. In those same three seasons, the Hoosiers are 8-25 away from Assembly Hall and have looked like an entirely different team.
In those 25 away games, Indiana has lost by at least 15 points in 11 of those losses, and double-digits in 17 outings.
The main issue has been the inability to respond when the opponent throws the second punch, or worse, the first.
Indiana’s toughness has been questioned numerous times over the past few seasons, but especially during and after road games. Because the Hoosiers have no response for the physical play, they are oftentimes put in big holes early in the game or right out of halftime.
This year it happened against Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Michigan, Ohio State, and Maryland. In most of those games, Indiana struggled to show any sort of competitive drive once the deficit reached double-digits, oftentimes folding and going through the motions for the rest of the game.
Recently, however, Indiana has done a better job of responding when punched first, but still, the inability to keep a deficit in single-digits is concerning.
