Former Indiana basketball standout OG Anunoby had a career-high on Sunday for the Raptors despite a loss.
While the Indiana basketball program was in the midst of losing a heartbreaker on Sunday, it was former Hoosiers’ standout OG Anunoby who was having a night he wouldn’t soon forget.
The Toronto Raptors forward scored a career-high 32 points on 12-of-16 from the field while adding seven rebounds and seven steals despite a 133-118 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Anunoby had 11 points in the first quarter and kept it going from there as he made plays from all over the floor. After spending all of last year in the shadows of Kawhi Leonard and the breakout of Pascal Siakam, Anunoby continues his career-year while nobody seems to be talking much about his growth and development.
His new career night comes just a few weeks after setting his prior career-high with 25 points and 12 rebounds, with his play only getting better since the All-Star break.
Following the return to action, Anunoby is averaging 15.6 points on 55.7 percent from the field and 6.0 rebounds in five games, including four of the five outings in double-figures.
On the season, the third-year forward is averaging 10.7 points on 50.1 percent shooting, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.
Anunoby, who missed all of last year’s playoff run with injury, will look to be a critical factor down the stretch and once postseason play begins this season.
