Indiana Basketball: Trey Galloway has huge game, leads big comeback
By Alec Lasley
The Indiana basketball signee had another big game this weekend and led Culver Academies back from a huge deficit in the second-half.
In a time where the Indiana basketball program is struggling to find consistent play from its guards, one 2020 Indiana signee continues to play above his recruiting rank and prove to be one of the best players in the state.
After missing a few weeks earlier this season with a wrist injury, Trey Galloway has now led his Culver Academies squad to 10 straight wins, including a huge win on Saturday night. Down 16 points in the second half, Galloway led a huge comeback as he finished with 35 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the 64-61 win over Crispus Attucks.
On fire all night long, Galloway went 12-of-19 from the field and had 16 points in the third quarter alone, the time in which the comeback took place. Having scoring outputs like Saturday’s isn’t something new to the 6-foot-5 guard, however. This year alone he has five games with at least 25 points.
While scoring is something that Galloway has shown he can do, playmaking is also a major asset. Playing point guard for the majority of the season, something that will be a very intriguing option for Archie Miller next season, Galloway has a knack for finding the open man. He is averaging 5.3 assists per game this season and his vision was on full display last night.
In 14 games this season, Galloway is averaging 24.2 points per game on 53 percent shooting and 6.0 rebounds in addition to his 5.3 assists.
The future Indiana guard will be one of the most versatile players that Archie Miller has brought in since taking over in Bloomington and should be a fixture in the rotation almost immediately when he arrives on campus.
