Fifth year senior Simon Stepaniak has been invited to participate in the 2020 NFL Combine.
Former Indiana football offensive lineman Simon Stepaniak has been invited to participate in the 2020 NFL Combine. He is Indiana’s lone invitee to the combine, a number which figures to improve in the coming years as Tom Allen continues to bring in more highly rated recruiting classes.
The 6-foot-4, 321 pound guard appeared in 41 games across his four seasons at Indiana, starting in 31 of those games. All but one start came at right guard, where he projects to play at the next level.
Stepaniak was a crucial piece of an Indiana offense that set the school record for thirty point games (9) and passing yards (3,931), and ranked among the top offenses in the country. Stepaniak started all eleven games in which he appeared in as a senior, and all twelve of the Hoosiers’ games in 2018. He’s been a consistent contributor for an Indiana program that has taken major strides since his arrival on campus in 2015.
Stepaniak joins a deep guard class for this upcoming NFL draft, and will have the opportunity to bolster his draft stock with a good showing at the combine. Though he has prototypical guard size, he’ll have to prove he’s quick enough and talented enough to be worthy of a draft pick.
Current mock drafts have Stepaniak being taken on the third day of the draft. His combine showing will play a major factor in whether he’s taken closer to the fourth round or closer to the seventh round. Regardless, it’s an accomplishment in itself to be invited to participate in the combine come February.
The combine will take place from February 23 to March 2 in Indianapolis.
