Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers in the middle of a muddled Big Ten
By Adam Childs
The bottom dwellers
Northwestern Wildcats
Nebraska Cornhuskers
These two teams are not very good. They have three Big Ten wins combined and one was when they played each other. The Wildcats won the pillow fight of the year in the conference 62-57. The Cornhuskers will get their chance at revenge on March 1st to see who ends up in last.
Even though these two teams have really struggled they are still competitive in a lot of their games. Cam Mack looks like he could be a very good player for the Cornhuskers, he just doesn’t have much help.
Chris Collins has actually done a great job with the Wildcats even though the record doesn’t show it. He has kept this team together in spite of the fact that they are very young and had some horrible losses early in the year.
Fans had to know it would take new head coach Fred Hoiberg a few years in Lincoln, but they probably didn’t think it was going to be this bad.
Northwestern still looks stuck in a rut after their first tournament appearance just two years ago. Collins should be able to keep his job if the higher-ups are smart, but his seat is hot.
This conference should be fun in the last month as teams try to separate themselves, but either way, stay tuned for a crazy finish.
