Indiana Football: FSU offer looming, Hoosiers could land a top ’20 CB
By Alec Lasley
The Indiana football program is looking to make a late addition to its 2020 class on Wednesday during National Signing Day.
While the Indiana football program likely secured all of its signees during the early signing period back in the fall, Tom Allen may be on the prowl again and steal one final member of the 2020 class away from another program.
Sidney Williams, a highly ranked and rising three-star defensive back, maybe the newest member of the Indiana class as early as tomorrow afternoon. Expected to make his announcement tomorrow, Williams is projected to be a Florida State lean, but one thing may keep him in the way of signing with the Seminoles; he has yet to receive an offer.
Williams also took an official visit to Tulane last weekend, but the Seminoles are the clear favorite if he receives an offer, with the Hoosiers to follow.
Florida State is still waiting on the decision from one or two other top defensive back targets and what happens with them will ultimately impact their decision on offering a scholarship to Williams.
At one point in his recruitment, Williams was expected to end up at either LSU or Auburn, but he suffered a thumb injury during his senior year which caused him to miss part of the season, losing traction with some of the powerhouse SEC schools. Georgia, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Nebraska were some of the other schools around the country to extend an offer.
Williams is ranked as the No. 556 prospect in 2020 and the No. 27 athlete in the class. While he played both wide receiver and in the secondary, he is being recruited by Indiana as a defensive back.
