The former Indiana basketball guard has continued his great play since returning to the Houston Rockets’ lineup after his injury.

While the Houston Rockets are off to a very slow start in 2020, just 5-6 in the month of January including a four game losing streak, former Indiana basketball guard Eric Gordon has been one of the lone bright spots for the team.

Missing 25 games from the middle of November until the end of December with a knee injury, Gordon has seemed refreshed and is back to playing basketball at the level the Rockets need him to be at.

Before he went down with the injury, Gordon was averaging just 11.1 points per game on just 30.9 percent shooting and 28.6 percent from three, all three of which were career lows. After another solid performance on Sunday when he went for 19 points, he has now increased his scoring average to 17.4 points per game in 12 games since returning from his injury.

Not only is he scoring the ball better, but he is performing at a much more efficient level, shooting 39.9 percent from three.

With the Rockets so dependent on Russell Westbrook and James Harden, they still have yet to find a consistent third member of the roster to be another scorer and playmaker. What was an inconsistency earlier this season, scoring over 15 points just twice before going down with his injury, he has been spectacular since returning, with eight games surpassing that total.

Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni touched on the importance of having Gordon as that third scorer to go along with Westbrook and Harden.

On the season, Gordon is averaging 14.5 points per game in 20 games this season, shooting 35.4 percent from three.

The Rockets currently sit at sixth in the Western Conference at 28-17 overall, 7.5 games behind the Los Angeles Lakers who sit atop the conference.
