Indiana football’s Whop Philyor announced that he will be returning to the Hoosiers in 2020 for his senior season.

The Indiana football program received some great news late Monday night as one of its most talented and versatile players announced he would be returning to Bloomington for his senior season.

Citing unfinished business, Whop Philyor announced on Twitter that he would return for one last go around.

Finishing with 70 receptions for 1,002 yards and five touchdowns, Philyor appeared in 12 games on the 2019 season, hampered by a concussion he suffered in the Penn State game, causing him to miss a game and a half.

Philyor not only will have his sights set on a terrific season for Indiana as a team, but also personally. With 126 career receptions for 1,572 yards, the Indiana All-Time records held by James Hardy of 191 receptions and 2,740 yards for a career are both within reach for the Florida native.

Already in the record books through his junior season, Philyor had two double-digit receiving games in 2019, bringing his total to five for his career, both of which are school records.

With the Hoosiers losing Donavan Hale and Nick Westbrook, returning Philyor was a major boost to an already talented group of wideouts still returning. With Philyor coming back, the Hoosiers now return their top three receivers from this past year (Philyor, Hendershot, Fryfogle).

One of just four receivers in the Big Ten to have over 1,000 yards this past season, it will be interesting to see how similar his workload is next year with a new offensive coordinator at the helm.

After an 8-5 season, Philyor and Indiana will look to break out next season as they try to reach 10 wins, something the program hasn’t done in its history.
