3. Ramsey’s career day at Nebraska
Peyton Ramsey was the Hoosier’s starting quarterback for two years. But then he lost his starting spot in the preseason this year. Freshman Michael Penix Jr beat him out to grab the starting spot this year. Ramsey could have taken the route that many have lately and entered the transfer portal and left. Instead, he stayed and it paid off.
Penix Jr got hurt often this year, and who was there to save the day, of course, it was Ramsey. It was no different when the Hoosiers traveled to Nebraska looking to become bowl eligible before the calendar even turned to November.
Starting for the third time on the year and the Hoosiers aiming for their second straight road win, Ramsey went out and had a career day. He went out and threw for a career-high 351 yards and two touchdowns as Indiana slipped by Nebraska and earned their sixth win.
It was Indiana’s first win in Lincoln since 1959 and it took all Ramsey had to do it. The Hoosiers pulled out the 38-31 win and knew they would go bowling for the first time in three years.
