2. 2011-2012 Team

This team was led by freshman phenom Cody Zeller (15.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg), junior Christian Watford (12.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg), junior Jordan Hulls (11.7 ppg, 3.3 apg), and sophomore Victor Oladipo (10.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg). These four were supported by sophomore Will Sheehey, senior Verdell Jones, senior Matt Roth and junior Derek Elston.

2011-2012 was the dawn of a new era from Indiana basketball, as Tom Crean led the program out from beneath the pile of rubble it was trapped underneath.

The ever-famous “Wat Shot” happened on December 10th of this season, beating No. 1 Kentucky and marking an important turnaround for the program.

The Hoosiers ended the season at 27-9 and were a five seed in the NCAA Tournament. They made it to the Sweet Sixteen, beating New Mexico State and VCU before falling to No. 1 seed Kentucky in a rematch with the eventual champions.

The 2011-2012 season was one to build on in the future, and spirits were high after having not reached the tournament for three years in the wake of the mess left by Kelvin Sampson.
