The Indiana basketball program has had many talented teams in the past decade, so here we look at the top five teams of the past 10 years.

It’s been a rollercoaster decade for Indiana Basketball. The early part of the decade gave the impression that IU was back as a national powerhouse. Tom Crean was able to bring the program back from the depths after Kelvin Sampson nearly destroyed it. He was able to do more than just revive it; he found great success. Indiana fans should remember Tom Crean fondly for rescuing the program if nothing else.

However, years went by and the Hoosiers had the same vices year-in year-out.

Expectations weren’t met, and Crean was fired, leaving Archie Miller in charge of the program. A seemingly promising beginning to last season ended with no tournament appearance and disappointment in the air.

Now sitting at an unconvincing 11-1 in Archie Miller’s third year, fans find themselves unsure of the future and are growing (understandably) more and more impatient all of the time.

We may not know the future of the program, but we know the past. There has been plenty to celebrate from the IU basketball program this past decade despite it being rocky at times.

As this years team is off to a great start, we still have yet to get into Big Ten play, where anything can happen. Ultimately, the expectation is for this team to be on the list eventually, but it is too early to tell, with more than half of the season to go.

As we wrap up the year and unwrap presents, let’s take a look back at some of the teams that have most defined this decade of Indiana Basketball.
