Indiana Basketball: Top 5 recruiting classes of the decade
By Alec Lasley
1. 2015 Class (No. 32 overall class)
Thomas Bryant (No. 20 overall recruit)
Juwan Morgan (No. 117 overall recruit)
OG Anunoby (No. 294 overall recruit)
At first glance, this was a recruiting class that wasn’t expected to reach the expectations that it ended up far exceeding. Looking back, however, it was by far the best recruiting class of this decade.
For starters, Thomas Bryant came in with the expectations of being one of the best forwards in the country, and by the time he left Indiana, he definitely became that.
Averaging 12.2 points and 6.2 rebounds a game in his two seasons, Bryant set an Indiana single-season record with his 68.3 percent from the field during his freshman season.
One of the biggest reasons that fans loved him was all due to his energy and effort. Always getting the crowd going, Bryant always wore his heart and emotions on his sleeve, never afraid to show it.
For his front court partner, OG Anunoby turned into one of the most underrated and overlooked prospects in the 2015 class. Staying just two years, like Bryant, Anunoby played just 16 games during his second season, missing most of it due to a knee injury. Throughout his career, however, he become a lockdown defender and showed off his athletic ability in every possible way, now being able to call himself an NBA Champion.
Lastly, Juwan Morgan was another member of the class that far exceeded expectations. Being another fan favorite, the four-year member of the Indiana program went down in the record books as one of the best forwards to play the game for IU.
Ranked 24th in points, (1,374), 10th in rebounds (757), 8th in blocks (138), and 5th in field goal percentage (56.2), Morgan went down in Indiana history as one of just four Hoosiers to rank in the top-25 in program history in points, and top-10 in rebounds and blocks. (Alan Henderson, Ray Tolbert, Eric Anderson).
