The former Indiana basketball standout recorded his first career NBA points on Friday night as the Boston Celtics took down the Detroit Pistons.

It has been a long road for former Indiana basketball star freshman Romeo Langford, but on Friday night it all paid off for the Celtics’ rookie guard.

Drafted No. 14 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, Romeo Langford recorded his first career points in the NBA as the Boston Celtics took down the Detroit Pistons 114-93. On the night, the former Indiana guard finished with six points on 3-of-8 from the field and two steals in 18 minutes.

Langford, who has spent most of the season in the G-League with the Celtics’ affiliate team, the Maine Red Claws, has been dealing with multiple injuries to kickstart his professional career.

Playing in just five games for the Red Claws, he is averaging 9.8 points per game in just 19.1 minutes, due to a few scenarios in which he left the game due to ankle and knee issues. Langford did however, take the G-League by storm when he dropped 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting in his debut. Since then, the Indiana native has scored just 22 points in four games.

Before Friday night, Langford had appeared in just two games for the Boston Celtics, going scoreless in just over five minutes of action.

With a possibility of Gordon Hayward missing another game or two, albeit nothing serious, with a foot injury, it leaves an open spot on the Celtics’ roster. Assuming Langford’s injuries are hopefully behind him for the near future, he could find himself seeing more NBA minutes from now on.
