4. Quick Lane Bowl – Detriot, MI

December 26 vs ACC opponent

This is less about who they would play and more about where they are playing. Ford Field is a nice place to play a football game and it is still a bowl destination and they do a great job. But who honestly wants to go to Detroit for a bowl game?

The Hoosiers would probably bring a lot of fans because of the proximity of the game, but would understandably be disappointed about the destination. When you think of a bowl game you think of nice warm weather where you don’t have to wear winter clothes. Yes, Detroit is in a dome but still not what you are wanting to go in a bowl game.

If the Hoosiers head to Detroit they would play an ACC opponent, more than likely North Carolina or Pitt. Both of those teams would be a good opponent for the Hoosiers, but again not what they are hoping for.

North Carolina would have the excitement of two basketball schools playing on the football field. And with Mack Brown coaching the Tar Heels it brings some name notoriety to the game. But with the ACC as a whole being so bad this year, Indiana would probably not get much credit for winning the game.

The Hoosiers absolutely want to get a bowl win, but winning against the ACC doesn’t bring as much clout as beating an SEC school. Indiana won’t complain about going to the Quick Lane Bowl but is definitely their last choice.
