2. UConn Huskies

Similarly to the game against Florida State, Indiana will play Connecticut in front of a lot of eyeballs. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN as part of the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, at it will be Indiana’s first road game in any capacity. It hardly gets bigger than playing a game at the basketball mecca.

UConn is led by senior guard Christian Vital, who is averaging 14.6 points, 8.1 boards, and 3.4 assists per game, but also have a total of six players averaging at least 10 points per game.

The Huskies are currently 5-2 and have beaten a decent crop of opponents, such as Florida and Miami. They not only score the ball pretty well as a team, averaging close to 80 points a game on only 40 percent from the field, but also have only allowed two opponents to score more than 70 points, one being Xavier in double-overtime.

The magnitude of this game isn’t so much about the opponent, although UConn is definitely not an opponent to be taken lightly. It is more so about the setting of the event that makes it a tremendous opportunity to add a quality win to Indiana’s resume.

With the lack of signature wins on Indiana’s resume thus far, games like this are not ones they can lose in the case that they are sitting on the Tournament bubble come March.
