Indiana Basketball: Ranking Hoosiers’ toughest games in December
1. Florida State Seminoles
Currently sitting just outside of the top 25, Florida State will make the jump to being ranked after knocking off No. 17 Tennessee on November 29, and then Purdue the following day.
After an opening night loss against Pitt, the Seminoles have rattled off seven straight wins that also include a 12-point victory on the road against No. 6 Florida, in addition to the two already mentioned.
Florida State is a formidable opponent that has already been battle-tested, beating several talented teams. The Seminoles don’t have a single standout player, but they work as a team on the defensive end and reap the results. They are among the top-tier of teams in both steals, blocks, and defense, holding opponents to an abysmal 36 percent from the field so far this season.
This game is important for Indiana to come out and make a statement. It’s no secret that the Hoosiers haven’t played a high-major opponent yet this season, and it’s time to see if playing weaker competition served them well as we transition into tougher matchups.
This will be IU’s first nationally televised game this season, and getting a win against an ACC opponent would give this team the confidence it needs to get through a tough rest of the month.
