By Alec Lasley
The Indiana basketball program move to 6-0 on the season after another non-conference win, this time against Louisiana Tech.
Indiana basketball was back in action on Monday night as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs came to Assembly Hall looking for the upset, but the Hoosiers had none of it, winning 88-75.
In one of the final tuneups before Florida State visits, the Hoosiers finally got the fast start that they have been looking for most of the season. Using multiple mini runs, accompanied by a 14-2 run halfway through the first half, Indiana looked like that of a top-25 team in the first half.
With nine players scoring in the first 10 minutes of the game for the Hoosiers, it was the backcourt of Devonte Green and Al Durham who came out of the gates hot combining for 27 of the 52 first half points.
Up by as much as 23 in the game, Indiana’s lead was cut to as little as nine in the second half, due to a lot of careless basketball by the Hoosiers. With just six turnovers in the first half, they had nine in the first seven minutes coming out of the half, keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance.
Trayce Jackson-Davis started slow, but came alive after halftime, scoring 17 of his career-high 21 points in the second half. Scoring in multiple ways, Jackson-Davis continues to be mr. reliable at the free-throw line as he went 10-of-11 for the game. He also added 11 rebounds, making it his third double-double of the season.
Even with 18 turnovers on the night, the shooting of Indiana kept the lead in double-digits for the majority of the game, shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 73.7 percent from the free throw line.
Al Durham finished with 18 points and four assists, while Devonte Green added 16 points on 6-of-11 from the field.
Amorie Archibald was the playmaker all night for Louisiana Tech as he led the Bulldogs with a career-high 24 points on 8-of-13 from the field.
Indiana now turns its attention to South Dakota State who will come to Bloomington on Saturday.
