Indiana Football: 3 keys to beat Wolverines on Saturday
By Adam Childs
2. Finish drives
Indiana has done a great job of moving the ball on almost every team they have played this year and that will hopefully continue against Michigan on Saturday. But they need to make sure they finish their drives and put up points. More importantly, they need to make sure they finish with touchdowns and not settle for field goals.
Indiana’s defense, while improving, still has had trouble shutting down some offenses and with the way the Wolverines are playing right now, it will be tough to completely shut them down. Michigan can score and they can score a lot especially lately.
This means that Indiana must be able to put up points and not leave many drives empty-handed. In the past few years, they have been able to hang with Michigan even taking them to overtime a couple of times. But that won’t work if they are only putting three points up on drives or punting.
Michigan’s defense has played very well since getting blasted by Wisconsin and the first quarter against Penn State. So any chance the Hoosiers have of scoring they need to take advantage.
If they can put touchdowns up on the board and either match or force Michigan to match them, they will be in great shape at the end of the game. But if they settle for field goals or have short drives it could be a long day in Bloomington.
