The Indiana football offensive coordinator received a great honor or Wednesday afternoon as he was named to the Broyles Award Watch List.

It continues to be a terrific year for the Indiana football program and one after one, players and coaches are continually added to national award watch lists.

Entering their first week in the top-25 since 1994, the Hoosiers are getting ready for one of the toughest tests of the season when they travel to Penn State on Saturday, looking to hand the Nittany Lions their second straight loss of the year and officially knock them out of the College Football Playoff picture.

While the preparation for the game is taking place, it was announced that Indiana offensive coordinator, Kalen DeBoer, was added to the Broyles Award Watch List. The award is given out each year to the nation’s top assistant coach. DeBoer was one of 41 assistants that were nominated.

The first year coordinator for Indiana has re-energized the offense and has turned the Hoosiers into one of the best offensive teams in the Big Ten and entire country.

Currently, Indiana is rated first in the Big Ten in passing offense (308.0 ypg, 15th nationally) and second in total offense (446.4 ypg, 34th nationally). Not only are the Hoosiers putting up yards, they are putting up points as well. DeBoer has been the mind behind the offense that has reached 30 points eight times this season, a program record, and in six-straight games, which also shares an Indiana program record.

The Hoosiers are bowl eligible for the first time since 2016 and clinched their first winning season since 2007, looking to get their first eight win season since 1994.

15 semi-finalists and five finalists will be selected over the next month and the Broyles Award winner will be announced on Dec 10.
