3. Trayce Jackson-Davis Is The Real Deal
Not that anyone needed any confirmation about Jackson-Davis’ ability, but Tuesday just emphasized it even more.
The freshman big man put on a show all night, and continued his terrific play early in the season, scoring 20 points, pulling down eight rebounds, and adding three blocks.
Not only was Jackson-Davis scoring at the rim, with a few big dunks, or on the block, but he scored 14 of his points from the free throw line.
In just 22 minutes of action, the athleticism was on full display, and while it’s easy to say it should be when facing less than stellar competition, but it’s the effectiveness that is what’s so eye-popping.
Averaging 13.7 points per game this year, Jackson-Davis is shooting 64.3 percent from the field and has missed just six shots in three games. While most big men are trying to stretch their games out to the three-point line, Jackson-Davis knows exactly how to best utilize his skillset and is torching opponents with it early.
Sooner rather than later, Trayce Jackson-Davis will become one of the focal points of the offense and having that lethal player in the post with his athleticism is something a lot of teams don’t have, especially from a freshman.
