1. Jerome Hunter showing improvement

Okay, yes this is just game two and Hunter hasn’t played more than 20 minutes yet, but he continues to improve in all facets of his game.

After missing all of last season, there were mixed feelings on what to expect from Hunter this year, but thus far, it’s easy to see how he may exceed them.

So far this year, Hunter is averaging 8.0 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent form the field and 40 percent from deep. After not making a three in game one, Hunter found his shooting touch against Portland State, going 2-for-4 from deep. Not only did his stroke look smooth, but he looked confident and didn’t hesitate at all when looking for his shot.

Not only is he hitting his threes, second on the team in three-pointers made and percentage, he is also scoring in other ways. With 3.0 free throw attempts per game thus far, Hunter is in the middle of the action and is trying to get easy buckets at the free-throw line to help gain confidence.

Though he isn’t forcing anything offensively, he is averaging 5.5 shot attempts per game, with just 2.5 coming from deep. With a leg injury that held him out in 2018, one could best assume that early on, mentally he may try to avoid contact, but that is the opposite with Hunter.

Averaging 3.0 rebounds per game, he has totaled three offensive rebounds thus far this season and is counting to get involved in the action in multiple ways.
