The Indiana basketball program will take the court on Tuesday to open up the 2019-20 season against Western Illinois and with that come a few injury updates.

While the Hoosiers open up their season on Tuesday against Western Illinois, the injury bug has already made its way to the Indiana basketball program.

Thankfully none of the injuries are deemed to be super long-term, they could be enough to keep a couple of the expected starters out of the lineup for now.

All three injuries lie in the backcourt, which means more minutes for freshman Armaan Franklin. The combo guard has been a standout early in the preseason as he has showcased his skills leading the Hoosiers in scoring against Marquette, and then backing it up with another very solid performance against Gannon last week.

The ‘good part’ about the possibilities of some of these starters missing Tuesday’s game is that it will give Franklin and sophomore wing Damezi Anderson more playing time and responsibility, something that will do wonders for the team later in the season.

With that, here are the players that are dealing with injuries, and how the outlook is for Tuesday’s game.

Out

Devonte Green (Hamstring)

Green has missed most of the preseason with a hamstring injury. After not playing in either the Marquette scrimmage or Gannon Exhibition, all signs pointed to Green being held out and on Monday, Archie Miller confirmed that report.

Questionable

Rob Phinisee (Abdominal)

While Phinisee also missed the scrimmage against Marquette, he saw 14 minutes of action against Gannon in a reserve role. While he is expected to play, it is still a decision that will be made closer to gametime.

Will Play

Al Durham (Knee)

The junior guard was a surprise scratch against Gannon after injuring his knee late in the Marquette scrimmage. After resting it for a 10-day period, Durham told reporters on Monday that he is ‘100 percent’ for Tuesday’s season opener.
