3. Don’t get caught looking ahead

How many times has this been a concern for the Indiana football team? Maybe never. But here we are with the 6-2 Hoosiers playing a struggling Northwestern team the week before a huge game with Penn State looming next week.

It is a classic trap game. Except the Hoosiers are usually the ones the other teams are calling a trap game. How will Indiana handle this and will they be able to keep their eye on the task at hand?

Indiana has gotten to 6-2 by beating the teams they need to and getting a couple of road wins. But now people are talking about them and they feel pretty good that this could turn into a big-time trap game.

The Hoosiers aren’t going to win the Big Ten (Ohio State is cruising) but they can continue to improve their bowl positioning but they need to make sure they don’t slip up against the Wildcats. This is a game they need to win or all of sudden the shine starts to go off the season a bit.

Don’t get caught thinking big and their matchup against Penn State and they should be fine. With the way the offense is playing they shouldn’t have a lot of problems scoring points against the Wildcats. But is they get looking ahead they could come out flat and let the Wildcats hang around and get the confidence they have been lacking lately.

Stay in the moment and don’t let the recent success get tot heir heads. If they can do that they should head to Penn State 7-2.
