Indiana Football: Tevin Coleman has career day, 49ers stay undefeated
By Alec Lasley
The former Indiana football running back continues to have a successful season with the San Francisco 49ers as he has a career day in week eight.
Despite it being the current Indiana football team that is receiving a lot of the attention around the football world, it was Tevin Coleman who led the San Francisco 49ers in week eight with a career day.
Helping the 49ers remain undefeated in their 51-13 win over the Carolina Panthers, Coleman found himself in the end zone on four occasions while also rushing for 105 yards on 11 carries. Adding in 13 receiving yards, Coleman continues to be one of the best dual threat running backs in the league since his return from injury.
Whether it was a 48 yard rushing touchdown or a 10 yard touchdown grab, Coleman found multiple different ways to score the ball.
Since his return to the lineup in week five, Coleman has rushed for 309 yards and totaled six touchdowns, bringing an added dimension to the 49ers offense, alongside Matt Breida.
Playing under his former offensive coordinator from Atlanta, Kyle Shanahan continues to utilize Coleman in many ways, all over the field.
While Coleman’s stats were tremendous, they could have been even better. The 49ers were in control of the game from the kickoff and Coleman had the majority of his stats, just 14 yards after the half, in the first 30 minutes of play. With no real defensive pressure, Coleman spent most of the fourth quarter on the sidelines taking everything in.
