Indiana Football vs Nebraska: 3 keys to the game
By Adam Childs
3. Don’t let the moment get to them
When Indiana takes on the Cornhuskers on Saturday they will be playing for their sixth win on the year. In the past, the Hoosiers were usually getting win number six late in the season. Winning Saturday opens up all sorts of possibilities for getting to eight wins or more.
Even weirder, is that the Hoosiers are a road favorite at Nebraska. If you would have asked anybody at the beginning of the year, there is no way they would have thought that. It is a different situation for them to be in and one they probably have not experienced before. They have always been the hunter, not the hunted.
They may just be a slight favorite, but they are one nonetheless. Can they handle being in that position or will they wilt as Maryland did early in the year when they got ranked? Indiana has earned their right to be in this situation but they need to not get too hyped for the game and play within themselves.
Even with Nebraska struggling they are still playing at home in a game they think they can win. The crowd will be loud and it will be interesting to see how the Hoosiers handle that. But on the flip side, if they can get ahead early and play their game, they can take the crowd out of the game and get Nebraska to lay down.
It will probably be a close game throughout, and if the Hoosiers win it will because they handled the situation well. Show the country that Indiana is a good football team this year and can go on the road and win.
Play in the moment but don’t get too caught up in it. Control your emotions and play the game and they can get another big road win.
