1. Pressure the Quarterback

Nebraska is still unsure who will start at quarterback against the Hoosiers, but it hasn’t seemed to matter much for the Cornhuskers.

Adrian Martinez is the starter when healthy but he missed the last game with a leg injury and is still unsure if he will play. Noah Vedral started against Minnesota their last game but left in the third quarter with a leg injury also. That left walk-on, Andrew Bunch, to come in.

Martinez, in six games, has thrown five interceptions and been sacked 15 times. Vedral was pressured just as much in his one game and sacked three times and Bunch was sacked once in his limited duty.

The Hoosiers must take advantage of the fact that the offensive line is struggling for the Cornhuskers and get pressure on the quarterback, whoever is playing there. Nebraska has been known to roll over when they get down and if Indiana can put them behind the chains they can get their offense off the field quickly and let their own offense control the game.

If Martinez plays they have to be aware of his scrambling ability but he has struggled to throw the ball this year and to put pressure on him can get him to turn the ball over. He is also known to get happy feet in the pocket as being sacked 15 times might get you a little gun shy.

If the Hoosiers can put a good amount of pressure on the quarterback they should have a great shot at winning the game. Nebraska’s offense is not great right now and disrupting it will make it even worse. Get pressure and they will win the game.
