Indiana Football: 3 takeaways from win vs Maryland

2. Peyton Ramsey Proves His Value
Wow. What a performance for the former starter on Saturday.
When Micheal Penix left the game in the second quarter against Maryland, every IU fan held their breath as we all know the potential the Hoosiers have with Penix under center. However, it was Ramsey’s play that reminded everyone he can still be a very good QB in this league and is the best backup in all of college football.
Despite losing his starting spot before the season started, Ramsey has been one of, if not the most, valuable players to this Indiana football program in 2019. Playing in five games and starting two of them, Ramsey has thrown for 843 yards and six touchdowns, just turning the ball over twice.
On Saturday, it was no different as the offense didn’t miss a beat and Ramsey completed 74 percent of his passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.
Having the reputation of not having great arm stretch or the accuracy to throw it deep, Ramsey seemed to counter those arguments with multiple big time deep ball throws.
While Penix has all of the talent in the world, it is Ramsey who continues to, time after time, prove why Tom Allen and the Indiana staff have the most confidence in the world to send him out there looking for a win.
