Indiana Football vs Maryland: Game time, TV channel, odds, prediction, and more
By Alec Lasley
Coming off of a homecoming win, Indiana football travels to Maryland looking for another win. Here’s everything you need to know about the matchup.
The Indiana football program is three wins away from a bowl game appearance after a win against Rutgers last weekend, and enter the Maryland matchup favored on the road.
Tom Allen and the rest of the coaching staff were pleased with the performance coming out of a bye week, but it’s crucial to maintain that momentum moving forward.
Maryland enters this matchup extremely banged up as starting QB Josh Jackson will miss another game with an ankle injury and Tino Ellis, the Terrapins staring cornerback, will be out the rest of the year as well. Two players who are expected to play but are dealing with injuries are Anthony McFarland Jr, the running back who tore up Indiana’s defense for 210 yards last season, and Ellis’ secondary parter Marcus Lewis who missed last week.
After starting the season outscoring opponents 142-20, they have faltered in the past couple of weeks with their last two losses coming at a combined score of 99-14.
Tyrrell Pigrome, the Terrapins starting quarterback moving forward, has loads of experience but mainly as a change-of-pace QB, never the full-time starter. To say he has had a rocky past two games would be a bit of an understatement.
With zero passing touchdowns and two interceptions, Pigrome is known for his rushing ability and will try to utilize his feet against an Indiana defense that has struggled at times with mobile quarterbacks.
Storylines
Indiana: Will the Hoosiers be able to take advantage of the banged up Maryland secondary? Hoosiers need another good outing from the running game. Who will replace Hunter Littlejohn is he is unable to go? Three more wins until a bowl game.
Maryland: Which Maryland team will show up? Anthony McFarland is dealing with a banged up ankle, how will that respond? Does Tyrrell Pigrome have a better feel for the offense in start number two? Maryland needs to find solutions to slow down the IU passing game or it will be over before it begins.
