5. Deonte Banks

With the news that senior corner Tino Ellis will be out the remainder of the season and with a lingering injury to another starting defensive back in Marcus Lewis, it will be time for Deonte Banks to step into a larger role.

Starting last week in place of Lewis, the freshman got praise from his head coach about his play and will only need to step up his play from here on out.

With Whop Philyor winning almost every matchup with any cornerback, it’ll be interesting to see how frequently Banks is matched up with one of the best wide receivers in the country, and if so, what Kalen DeBoer and Michael Penix put together to take advantage of it.

Banks will have his freshman mistakes but he does have a good ability and showed it in his time in the first half of the season thus far.
