One of Indiana basketball’s remaining 2020 targets is set to commit today but the Hoosiers may be on the outside looking in.

Archie Miller has been adamant about adding another ball handler to the 2020 recruiting class but with very little Indiana basketball targets still remaining, a point guard addition may have to wait until 2021.

For Hassan Diarra, the four-star point guard had the Hoosiers in the mix for a lengthy period, even visiting Bloomington a couple of weeks ago, but all signs have pointed to another program in recent days.

With Georgia and Texas A&M as the other two programs with a shot at landing Diarra, every program will find out their fate on Friday afternoon as he is set to make his college decision, announced last night.

Diarra, who is a top-65 player in the 2020 class, is fresh off of his final official visit to Texas A&M last weekend and with the addition of multiple 247Sports Crystal Ball selections over the past 24 hours, it seems as though College Station will score a commitment from Diarra.

What’s next for the Hoosiers?

Quite honestly, not much. It’s just sit and wait time for about another week before hosting their top priority in 2020, Dawson Garcia, for an official visit.

Sitting in a very good place with the five-star forward, it looks like if there will be any addition to the 2020 class, it will come from the Minnesota Native.

As for the other 2020 guard that included Indiana in his final list, there seems to be no real traction between Andre Curbelo and the Hoosiers, as Miami and Illinois seem to be out in front of the other programs.

Rob Phinisee will control the ball for the most part of the next couple of seasons with Al Durham transitioning into more of a ball handler in the second half of his Indiana career. Behind that duo is Trey Galloway in 2020 who has the ability to be a ball handler, albeit not his sole position.

That leaves 2021 point guard Khristian Lander. Everyone knows the name by now as he is a top-2 if not the best point guard in the class, and Indiana is sitting nicely in his recruiting in the early stages.

With fellow 2021 point guard Devin Askew committing to Kentucky over Louisville and others last night, it still leaves the door open for a potential Lander-Louisville uniting down the road as well. Outside of Louisville, Michigan is another team to keep an eye on as Lander’s recruitment continues to develop.
