Indiana Football: Analyzing Hoosiers’ chances at a bowl game
By Adam Childs
vs Northwestern – November 2nd
The Hoosiers will hopefully be riding high after a big road win against Nebraska when they come back home to host Northwestern.
The Wildcats, under Pat Fitzgerald, have always been a blue-collar team that gives other teams fits. The problem is this year they are struggling to score points. They have scored 62 total points in four games, but 30 of those came against a bad UNLV team.
The schedule is brutal for Northwestern before their game with the Hoosiers. They travel to Nebraska before heading home to take on Ohio State and Iowa. They could easily be 1-6 when they come to Bloomington.
Playing the Wildcats is never going to be easy but this is the perfect time for the Hoosiers to pick them off and hopefully become bowl eligible before their own rough stretch to end the year.
If the Hoosiers aren’t at six wins by the end of this game they may be in trouble. But, a good thing for the Hoosiers is the lack of offense from the Wildcats. This should play into the hands of the Hoosiers as their strong suit, as we have outlined, is not their defense.
This is a game the Hoosiers need to win, a home game against a team they are just as good as if not better.
To make the leap and make a bowl game, they need a victory here. Fortunately, I think they do just that, and if everything else breaks right becomes bowl eligible with three games to go.
