Indiana football starting quarterback Micheal Penix will not start against Ohio State with an injury; Peyton Ramsey to start.

In what was a huge buildup to the Hoosiers and Buckeyes matchup, the Indiana football program will be without its starting QB in Saturday’s game as Michael Penix will not start today, per multiple reports.

Michael Penix, who was named the starter ahead of the season opener, had been ruled questionable earlier in the week, but as the game drew closer, it became clear that Penix would not be the starter for IU. Through Indiana’s first two games, Penix completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 523 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions

Peyton Ramsey will take over the duties under center, but has the experience any program loves from its backup QB. Ramsey was a 12-game starter last season and threw for 2,875 yards with 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions leading the Hoosiers to a 5-7 record. Ramsey also holds the Indiana all-time completion percentage at 65.8 percent.

Last season against Ohio State, Ramsey went 26-39 for 322 yards and three touchdowns in the 49-26 loss in Columbus.

Ramsey did see action against Eastern Illinois last week, throwing for 226 yards on 13-of-14 passing, with two touchdowns in just two quarters.

The Buckeyes roll into Bloomington with one of the best offenses and defenses in the country and the Hoosiers need to show off the high-powered offense they have played with through the first two weeks in order to keep pace.
