Win The Turnover Battle

Ball security is job security. There’s a reason that’s a saying. You can’t be giving the opposing team multiple chances throughout a game, especially when that team is as talented as Ohio State. Both quarterbacks are relatively inexperienced, but extremely talented.

For Indiana, Penix has to play a smart game. That’s not to say he shouldn’t be looking to take chances down the field or make a play with his legs, but he has to know when to throw the ball away or settle for a check down. Against Eastern Illinois he tightened up and looked sharp after throwing two picks against Ball State. Ohio State isn’t Eastern Illinois, though. The speed on defense is going to be something he’s going to have to account for.

On the flip side, the Indiana defense is going to need to make some plays and create at least a turnover or two. If they can get to Fields early and often they should be able to pressure him into some mistakes. He hasn’t faced a defensive as talented as this Indiana defense this year. They have to capitalize on his inexperience and win the turnover battle.

If Indiana can hold its own on the ground and play a smart, clean game this could be one of the best chances the program has had in a while to pull off a huge upset.
