Indiana Football: 3 takeaways from Ball State win
By Alec Lasley
The Indiana football program got off to a 1-0 start in 2019 with its 34-24 win over Ball State on Saturday.
It took us a while to get back to college football season but the Indiana football program didn’t disappoint with its win on Saturday. The Hoosiers took down the Ball State Cardinals and showed a lot of promise but also needed growth.
Ball State hung with the Hoosiers for most of the game, though IU never really seemed to give up too much control.
Michael Penix made his 2019 debut as the starting quarterback and quickly made his mark on the game with his explosive plays.
It was also the first game for two new coordinators on both sides of the ball for Indiana with Kane Wommack (DC) and Kalen DeBoer (OC). Both made their individual impacts throughout the game but definitely showed inconsistencies as well.
Overall, Indiana’s play gave fans a look at what they should expect this season, and the playmaker’s on the outside should be making explosive plays all year long.
Here our Hoosier State of Mind’s three takeaways from Indiana’s win over Ball State.
