Indiana Basketball: Eric Gordon signs extension with Rockets

Former Indiana basketball star Eric Gordon signed a deal to remain with the Houston Rockets for the next four years.

One of the best parts of the Houston Rockets offense over the past couple of years has been Eric Gordon, and early Saturday morning they rewarded the former Indiana basketball star with a new contract.

Announced just after midnight on Saturday morning, Gordon and the Rockets agreed to terms on a four-year $76 million extension per Shams Charania.

The former Hoosier has had a great career with the Rockets averaging 16.8 points per game with the while shooting 36 percent from three in his three years in Houston. Along with his scoring, he has been a fixture with his ability to make threes. Gordon is just 1 of 6 players to make 200 three’s each of the last 3 seasons in the NBA.

Sixth Man of the Year for the 2016-17 season, Gordon was a name that came up in a lot of trade talks this offseason while the Rockets tried to get their roster in order after acquiring Russell Westbrook a couple of months ago.

Gordon will assume the sixth man role once again this season and will look to be the third member of the fantastic backcourt. The 6-foot-4 guard raised his play this year in the playoffs averaging 17.8 points per game while shooting 40 percent from three in 11 games this postseason.

The 30-year-old Gordon was set to hit free agency after this upcoming season but now with his new contract, him as well as James Harden, Clint Capela and Russell Westbrook are all locked up through the 2022 season.
