An intriguing prospect for Indiana Basketball in one of their future classes talks about IU’s message and how his recruitment is going as a whole.

Archie Miller continues to put on the heat for many top prospects in the 2020 and 2021 classes, trying to round out his future recruiting classes. One of those targets is big man Javonte Brown-Ferguson who ran with Canada Elite on the Under Armour Circuit.

Currently as it stands, Brown-Ferguson is a class of 2021 prospect but that hasn’t stopped many top programs, including Indiana, from pushing him to reclassify into 2020.

"“Reclassing is very intriguing to me at this time.  I want to get started early.  If I want to reclass, I have to get stronger and I have to develop my game, so I can make an immediate impact.” He told PhenomHoops."

While he won’t make a final decision until after the New Year, he did tell Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com that he is “70-30” in terms of heading to the 2020 class.

As Hoosier State of Mind discussed prior, Indiana’s front court outlook for 2020 and 2021 is very shaky as it currently stands, so how hard is Archie Miller pushing for the 6-foot-11 big man?

"“They started recruiting me after Atlanta. At first, they saw me playing 16U, but then my coaches brought me up to 17U and they liked me even more when I was playing up. They offered me after my performance at the academy. I talked with head coach Archie Miller and am in constant contact with Bill Comar. They want me to come in 2020 because the coaches think that I can have an immediate impact. They play in the Big 10, a really good conference for big men. They have a lot of basketball history at that school and that to me is very intriguing.” He told PrepHoops."

For 2020, the Hoosiers are involved with a few big men, but none with the power and game down low such that Brown-Ferguson provides, thus making the two parties a good match.

If Indiana is wanting to win out over some of the other prized programs going hard after him, they will have to go up against one of their biggest rivals to do so.

Purdue is another program that has jumped in the race for the Canadian big and with their history of talented front court players, the Boilermakers provide an interesting system.

"“They have arguably the best coach in the NCAA. They play through their bigs and that’s always good because I’m a big man. They develop lots of NBA players, especially at my size. They play in a great league, too.” Brown-Ferguson told Zagsblog.com."

There is still time to go in his recruitment, but Brown-Ferguson plans to take some visits in the fall and as of now it does look like he will be headed for the 2020 class.
