The former Indiana basketball guard inks a deal with MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza in the top professional league in Poland.

Announced on Friday afternoon, Robert Johnson signed a new deal to play next season with MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza in Poland. The former Indiana basketball guard had been playing in the NBA G-League.

MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza played for several years in the Liga 2, tier two, until they won the championship in the 2007–08 season and were then ultimately promoted to the top tier league.

Johnson’s new head coach had some nice things to say about him.

"“Johnson is a player after a good college and a good season in the G League,” Said the MKS Head Coach Michał Dukowicz after being translated. “I was looking for a player who would provide points from position two, and definitely Robert is such a player.”"

Johnson’s game is that of a combo guard and will be able to effectively play both positions for MKS next season. The 6-foot-4 guard was known for his three-point shooting and defensive ability in college.

As a senior at Indiana, Johnson averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 37 percent from deep. After graduation he went undrafted and signed a contract with the Milwaukee Bucks G-League affiliate Wisconsin Herd. There he spent the 2018-2019 season averaging 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 47 games.
